Save this one for a night when all you want is for your brain to let you rest. Too often I go to bed, my body exhausted, my mind unable to stop moving. Luckily, there’s this masterful version of “Once Upon a December” from the (highly underrated) animated movie Anastasia. It’s a perfect piece to guide you to a peaceful slumber, because this music? It’s the stuff of dreams.

Go Forth and Educate Yourselves!

I’d also highly recommend watching the Jane Elliot Brown-eye/Blue-eye experiments, which can be found here:

Not only should you educate yourself but use this for good. Look around you and help others who don’t have this privilege. Hiring, donating, community service, etc.

After this post went viral, the original artist had to delete their tumblr because they were inundated with death threats.

There were people more offended by this comic than offended by the existence of racial disparities—to the point where they threatened this artist’s life.

scorchedangel said: I read The Orphan Master's Son based on your tweet about it and just wanted to say thank you! It was easily the best book I read this year, possibly ever! Got any more recommendation? :P

fishingboatproceeds:

yeah!

If you liked The Orphan Master’s Son, some other books I recommend:

An Untamed State by Roxane Gay

How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia by Mohsin Hamid

Ghana Must Go by Taiye Selasi

Each of these novels (like Orphan Master’s Son) takes us to a place most of us don’t know well and makes it rich and vibrant and complicated and human.

theatricalmumblings:

Sunday In The Park With George, Théâtre du Châtelet with Julian Ovenden and Sophie-Louise Dann

Just finished watching this. Not the best acting performances I’ve seen for this show, but it was well sung for the most part. I’m not sure how I felt about Dann’s Dot. I thought her speaking/singing voice was a little grating after a while, and some of her acting choices were questionable. I also thought the set design, while interesting, was a tad over-designed and often too busy. It’s definitely worth a watch though, if only to hear the lush orchestration and Julian Ovenden’s stellar vocals.

I would like to thank not only god, but Jesus as well for whoever came up with the idea that these three should sing this song
